The 2014 Toyota Camry falls short in the realm of horsepower—and features—when compared to the 2014 Honda Accord. At West Michigan Honda Dealers, we’re a bit biased in favor of the Honda vehicles, but we think you’ll agree with us that the Accord simply outshines the Camry.
Let’s look a little closer at these two cars.
More than Power in the Accord
We know many drivers don’t come to small cars for the power, but it’s certainly an added benefit, right? The Accord LX with continuously variable transmission has a power rating of 185 hp compared to the Camry’s 178 hp. The Accord offers more on torque too, at 181 lb-ft to 170 lb-ft of the Toyota.
That’s not all, though. The Accord’s 4-cylinder engine is more efficient too, getting an EPA-estimated 36 mpg on the highway and 27 mpg in the city* compared to the Camry’s 35 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg in the city. Those are savings that will add up.
To round things off, the Accord is simply better equipped, too. Honda has given us a new definition of standard features, making high-tech amenities standard equipment on the entry-level Accord LX trims. Amenities include:
- Bluetooth for phone and audio
- i-MID infotainment system
- Built-in rearview camera
- SMS text messaging
- Pandora internet radio
- Steering wheel-mounted controls
Toyota does make some similar features available on the Camry, but to get comparable ones to the Accord, you’ll need to upgrade.
