2015 Honda Fit Earns Highest NHTSA Safety Score

February 20th, 2015 by

HondaSince the day that the 2015 Honda Fit hit our showrooms at West Michigan Honda Dealers, we knew it was going to be a popular car with our drivers, but we have been blown away by just how much you all love this efficient and versatile new hatchback. We’re very excited to announce that this sporty and fun little car is also one of the safest vehicles on the road, taking home a Five-Star Overall Safety Rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Earning a Five-Star Safety Rating

In order to earn a Five-Star Overall Safety Rating, the Fit had to pass its tests with flying colors.

Art St. Cyr, American Honda’s VP of Auto Operations responded to the safety award, saying “The Fit shows that owning a smaller car doesn’t mean you need to skimp on space, comfort or crashworthiness. Honda’s commitment to the safety of our customers and other road users is second to none, and the Fit demonstrates this commitment in a powerful way.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves, Art.

The Fit is already a benchmark when it comes to cargo space, passenger space, occupant safety amenities, and innovative technology features, so it seems like it was only a matter of time before the NHTSA granted the Fit their Five-Star award. Here are just some of the standard and available safety features that set the Fit apart:

  • Next-Generation Advanced Compatibility Engineeringā„¢ (ACEā„¢) body structure
  • SmartVent side airbags for the driver and front passenger
  • Side curtain airbags that trigger with a rollover sensor
  • Hill start assist
  • Expanded-view driver’s mirror
  • Honda LaneWatch
  • Multi-angle rearview camera with built-in guidelines

The 2015 Honda Fit also took home a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) just for good measure. That’s two top awards from the two biggest names in auto safety; that sounds like the Fit’s a good bet for a safe new car.
