Every driver is going to have different priorities when they go shopping for a vehicle like the 2016 Nissan Rogue, but horsepower might not be on the minds of too many crossover buyers. Power often falls behind features, spacious interior, and fuel economy, but we want to make sure you know you don’t have to compromise power or capabilities in order to have that fuel economy you want. And having a higher horsepower rating can help when you’re running late or need to pass on the highway.
We compared the 2016 Honda CR-V to the Rogue to give you an idea of what it looks like to refuse to compromise on a crossover.
Horses Make a Difference
The CR-V and the Rogue may look like they have a lot in common when you first glance at them, but the devil is in the details. The CR-V offers a significant edge over its competitor, including a lead over the 2016 Nissan Rogue horsepower ratings.
- Each 2016 Honda CR-V features a 2.4L 4-cylinder powering it, rated at 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive models are rated at an EPA-estimated 33 highway mpg, too.*
- The Rogue also has a 33 mpg highway fuel economy, but its power lags behind. The 2.5L 4-cylinder is only rated at 170 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque.
Now, that might look like a small, perhaps forgivable difference, but it translates to superior capabilities for the 2016 CR-V as well. 2016 Honda CR-V 2WD models can tow as much as 1,500 pounds, but the 2016 Rogue is only rated to tow 1,000 pounds or less.
When you want a vehicle with the capabilities of an SUV and the practicality of a crossover, you don’t want to compromise an inch on power.
