You would be hard-pressed to visit a West Michigan Honda dealer that had someone who wasn’t already a fan of the 2013 Honda Accord. You can see all over the web that it’s receiving praise for being a family-friendly sedan, offering a variety of features and top-notch safety elements. We already thought of the new Accord as an All Star, but hearing that Automobile Magazine added it to their 2013 All Star list, as the only mid-size sedan we might add, is great news.

Funny that there weren’t any other vehicle’s in the Accord’s class on the list; wonder why that could be?

Shooting for the Stars

If the Accord is the only mid-size sedan on the list, this clearly is not an easy club to join. Just what does the 2013 model of Honda’s famous sedan have going for it that other autos don’t? Well, we have some ideas, but let’s see how the experts at Automobile Magazine rated their vehicles first.

In order to make the list, an auto had to excel in areas of performance testing, features, and overall value, and it shouldn’t surprise drivers to hear that when it comes to performance, Honda knows what they’re doing. The Accord and Civic have long been appreciated by drivers of efficient autos, and the latest Accord Sedan has an EPA-estimated 36 mpg on the highway.* All it takes is one look at Honda’s racing track record to know that they are an automaker familiar with high performance engines as well.

That said, there is little doubt in our minds that the Accord is being recognized because of Honda’s new package of standard features. While you can get amenities like Bluetooth, a rearview camera, an infotainment system, and alloy wheels on many new sedans, most automakers expect you to shell out extra cash and upgrade for them. Not Honda. Those features and more come standard on the basic Accord LX.

The Accord is an Award Winner

If you thought this sedan’s path to stardom was not already surrounded by trophies, you haven’t been paying attention. Since it made its debut in 2012, the Accord has made its way onto many lists, like Ward’s 10 Best Engines as well as being a finalist in the North American Car of the Year competition.
