What’s the Best Crossover for the Money in 2014?

April 8th, 2014 by

There’s one answer we give when drivers come to a West Michigan Honda dealer and ask us what the “best crossover” is, whether it’s for the money, for 2014, or ever.

Now, we think that the 2014 Honda CR-V is without doubt one of the best vehicles on the road today, but we are backed up by folks like the US News & World Report declaring that the 2014 CR-V is a Best Car for the Money. What does it take to be one of the few, the best, acknowledged by the experts at US News & World Report? Read on to find out.

Drive the Best of the Best

The 2014 CR-V is not only the best-selling SUV in America for the past two years, but it has also won the recent “Best Cars for the Money” award by US News & World Report in their annual listing of high-value vehicles. Specifically, the CR-V was named the “Best Compact SUV for the Money” among US sales of 2014 models.

Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of Automobile Operations at American Honda took some time to explain just what it is that makes the CR-V such a stand-out model, saying “[It] offers more quality, utility, comfort, fuel-efficiency, and fun-to-drive character than many more-expensive competitors. Value for the money is one of the key things that customers expect when buying a Honda, and this award recognizes the CR-V’s fulfillment of that promise.”

In order to determine which vehicles are the “best for the money,” the US News & World Report team builds a composite score, with the top scorer in a category earning the award. This overall score a vehicle achieved in the U.S. News car rankings when the awards are announced is based on on safety, expert reviews, and reliability. The value of the CR-V and other models is based on the five-year total cost of ownership as well as the average price paid for the vehicle when awards are announced.

If that’s not enough, the CR-V 2WD LX is good for 31 highway mpg* from its 4-cylinder engine. Those are long-term savings right there.
